This eco-friendly placemat has been handwoven by rural artisans using natural jute and straw grass or ‘Elephant Grass.’ A low-maintenance weed found in abundance in India, Elephant Grass derives its name from being a favorite food and hiding place for elephants. It grows up to 10 feet and hence lends itself beautifully to weaving. This weaving process however requires great practice and skill.
